Pictorialism Portrait Project:

For the pictorialism assignment, I photographed my mom near a window in the house. The window had streaks of light shining through it which I thought look interesting. In the book letters to a young artist the author says "Commit to finding the true nature of art". I took this to mean be creative and to look at my surrounding more uniquely. As I was looking, I noticed the lighting from the window and I thought it was perfect. That's more of a quote from the book but a theme I choose was the chapter talking about mentors. My mom has always been a mentor to me throughout my life. She's told me many different stories and I've learned from her actions and her values.
